CEO, Helen Paisley, listed in Dentistry’s Top 50 2023

We are proud to announce that our CEO Helen Paisley, is listed in Dentistry’s Top 50 2023.

Dentistry’s pick of the profession reveals those who are making a difference in dentistry, the leaders, the innovators, the unsung heroes and those who are wielding influence.

Helen was recognised by the judges as an advocate of dental care for disadvantaged groups. Appointed CEO of CDS in Summer 2022, Helen has previously held senior leadership roles in the organisation, including Chief Operating Officer, overseeing dental care, oral health improvement programmes and epidemiology services across much of the East of England and Midlands. She has driven service innovation such as establishing a new Consultant led IV sedation service, enabling many more special care and paediatric patients to be treated in clinics avoiding the need for referral for more invasive general anaesthetic. She also created a new dental access service in Bedfordshire through a walk-in centre to improve care for NHS patients locally, responding to government oral health priorities at the time.

During the Covid-19 Pandemic, Helen’s leadership contributed to CDS being at the forefront of establishing some of the first Urgent Dental Care centres in the Midlands and the East to resume face-to face dental care. She also ensured the needs of special care patients were not overlooked, establishing dedicated centres for their treatment.

Working with local commissioning teams, where gaps in service provision for people with additional needs have been identified e.g., those who are homeless or recently arrived refugees, Helen has enabled CDS to establish additional services to meet these needs without impacting on the care and waiting times of CDS core patients. She was also the driving force behind a partnership approach to establishing the oral health needs of vulnerable groups such as unaccompanied child refugees and putting in place service provision in the Bradford area with fellow social enterprise Bevan Healthcare.
