CDS are delighted to share our 2020 – 2021 Impact Report, reflecting on a challenging year striving to deliver high-quality community dental care for patients in your area.
The report charts how CDS supported wider communities through making PPE for local hospitals, working in test and vaccination centres to donating 38,000 toothbrush packs to foodbanks and other organisations working with people in need. Transformation has been made to oral health programmes are delivered, rising to the challenge of on-line training and reaching a far greater audience than ever before – directly supporting the oral health of 33,000 vulnerable people in this way.
CDS’ report showcases the incredible difference the teams made during the pandemic delivered, as always, with care, compassion, and determination.
Through these remarkable times, CDS opened some of the country’s first Urgent Dental Care Centres across 9 counties, were amongst only a handful of dental providers caring for Covid positive patients and welcomed the new Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire teams to CDS.
CDS also donated a £100k Covid Relief fund to the employee led CDS Action Charitable Trust to deliver grants directly into our local communities.
Like many the experience of providing care in full PPE for long shifts, dealing with enhanced cleaning regimes, developing complex operating procedures, and treating known Covid positive patients has been exhausting. It was important that they were able to offer a range of wellbeing resources to support all of our teams, from regular rests in break out spaces to developing our Mental Health First Aiders to offer support wherever and whenever people were experiencing anxiety.
Enjoy reading CDS’ stories of the last year along with some amazing patient feedback which reflected the passion and care everyone has shown and exemplifies why CDS are proud to be an Employee Owned Community Dental Service with a commitment to social purpose.
